A collection of ramblings and things, probably geek (or Gleek) related, by a late twenty-something guy from the darkest depths of Worcestershire, England.

Now that everyone’s had a chance to perform live for the first time, here are some ramblings about the acts…

The battle rounds this weekend were immense. I probably agreed with most of the choices but am gutted Lindsey and David are out - especially as I thought they walked their sing-offs - and would buy their albums tomorrow (if they had one).
Here are my picks for the battles (actual winners italicised, my favourites in bold). There are a few where I wouldn’t have picked either or I really liked both…
Will
Jenny Jones vs. Joelle Moses
Heshima Thompson vs. Tyler James
Jay Norton vs. Jaz Ellington
J Marie Cooper vs. Sophie Griffin
Frances Wood vs. Kate Read
Jessie
Kirsten Joy vs. Toni Warne
Vince Kidd vs. Jessica Hammond
David Faulkner vs. Cassius Henry
Ben Kelly vs. Ruth-Ann St. Luce
Becky Hill vs. Indie & Pixie
Tom
Sam Buttery vs. Aundrea Nyle
Ruth Brown vs. Deniece Pearson
Barbara Bryceland vs. Leanne Mitchell
Matt & Sueleen vs. Lindsey Butler
Adam Isaac vs. Denise Morgan
Danny
Max Milner vs. Bill Downs
Vince Freeman vs. Bo Bruce
Aleks Josh vs. Emmy J Mac
David Julien vs. John James Newman
Hannah Berney vs. Murray Hockridge
Looking at that, Danny was the only judge I completely agreed with - and although I hate the phrase, he definitely has a few dark horses on his team. Can’t wait to hear how some of these acts have improved given that the battle rounds were filmed a couple of months ago. Roll on the Live Shows.
Meanwhile, I’m off to listen to Barbara and Leanne’s Gaga-off again, and may even stretch to a bit of Danny hand-dancing…

Final week of auditions on The Voice… couldn’t believe how intense it got towards the end of the episode. Will deffo made the right choice with his last singer, although it’s a shame no one else had space left as the other guy was pretty decent. Having said that, the only act across the four weeks that I’m actually gutted didn’t get through was Hannah (the folksy one from tonight). She was easily better than four of five of the other younger female singers who’ve been picked.
Annoying me majorly tonight was Danny, whose constant looking to the other judges to validate his own decisions to turn around is wearing very thin. Man-up and make your own damn choices! Grrr….

Final Teams: BBC WEBSITE
So following on from last week, my own team of ten now looks like this…
Anyone watching the Voice UK? It’s week three and I’m still loving it, although there weren’t quite as many standouts tonight as last time. However, I love that there are no joke/bad acts on this show, and that even the singers who don’t get through are pretty decent, generally gracious and aren’t ripped into by the coaches (The ‘I should’ve pressed my button’ soundbyte and variations on that are getting tired though).

Anyway, at the end of this week’s show I got to thinking that if I could create my own super-team of contestants, it would be something like this (click through for YouTube vids):
David Faulkner (ftw)
I’ve left three spaces for next week’s hopefuls, but Jessica Hammond might just edge spot eight if there aren’t too many stand-outs.
Who are your favourites? What team would you pick (assuming the decision was with you and not the singers themselves)?
Not sure about this, given that The Romans and Mayans worked on different calendars, but it does make all the Doomsday preaching a little pointless if right. (Athough it might be only one aspect of the 2012 phenomenon, the ending of the Mayan calendar is still the part that many of the other predictions have built up around).
So despite a good showing from Angelina Jolie, my favourite internet meme remains the awesome ‘SOON’. Honestly, there’s just something about pictures of menacing looking animals and objects that both haunts and amuses me. That horse looking out of a second storey window for example? WTF!

Anyway, having found an awesome source for photographs on http://www.roflzoo.com/, I figured a few of them would benefit from some suitable meme-related captions…

Internet I love you.
Think that’s the most I’ve ever wanted to actually hug a fictional character. Poor Dave. Max Adler quite rightly stole the episode, and as for the hospital room scene with Chris…

When he said about his mum’s reaction, it was a little too close to home. Think this was a big storyline to tackle but they really did do justice to it. Well done Glee.
